    • They areindeed very beautiful. Not easy to photograph becasue they spend most of the time high up in the tree canopy where they blend a lot more and provide a difficult angle.

    • Yes, I know, it’s a little odd. Not quite sure what purpose they perform. They are very interesting birds making a distinct slow drumming sound through inflating bags on either side of the throat that gives them another nickname – ‘(buddhist) monk of the forest’

    • Actually, he or she is preparing a nest inside the tree. They hollow it out and have the young inside. It has to have an emergency escape hatch as well, even though it is relatively high up!
